Library System Reserves
Information for Students
Instructors and Professors teaching classes in the University frequently make use of Reserves operations to make "high demand" material more readily available to students.
Each library has a reserve collection that is available for checkout from the circulation desk. The materials that are kept on reserve are identified by faculty prior to the start of the semester and we pull or purchase the items and put them into this special collection. The items from this collection generally circulate for 2 to 3 hours for "building use only" materials, and occasionally for up to 7 days for select titles.
When you check out the item from the desk, be sure to find out the time it is due, if the circulation attendant doesn’t volunteer the information. The material is in high demand because it will likely be assigned to the class to review within a small time period. Students making use of this material will need return the items in a timely manner, and may be unable to renew it if there are others that are interested in viewing the material also.
You may find it useful to become familiar with our Undergraduate Textbook Reserve Policy.
Overdues for Reserves material accrue at a rate of $1.00 per hour for each overdue item.
